The large molecular size of mandelic acid results in a lower rate of penetration, therefore, it is used as a superficial exfoliation. As the stratum corneum is exfoliated, the skin cells and dermal matrix will also be renewed, while balancing sebum secretion. The treatment stimulates collagen and proteoglycan synthesis to smooth rough and textured skin, brightening the skin tone and fades out dark spots caused by acne.
